The Writings on the Wall
Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center
Birmingham, Michigan
www.bbartcenter.org
A solo
exhibit featuring mixed media wall journals. I find words very
inspiring. Some of my pieces will be based on the poetry of my daughter, Mary Macey, as well as the book 'A Woman's Worth' by Marianne Williamson.
Each piece is a creative interpretation of the prose and poetry I find so rich in meaning. Some words are so powerful, they need to be illuminated beyond just print. Measuring 2' x 4', my wall journals are painted and collaged on canvas with the addition of found objects that further enhance the significance of the words.

Worth” by Alicia Keyes.
The exhibition is a visual journey through the world of Collage, Assemblage, Altered
Books and Found Object/ Art Jewelry, exploring the use of discarded and often
overlooked objects as art, as seen through the eyes of collaborating, award
winning artists, Donna Engstrom and Cheryl Strait.

Intimate Views
Lawrence Street Gallery
Ferndale, Michigan
www.lawrencestreetgallery.com
A joint mother-daughter exhibit featuring photography by Mary Macey and mixed
media pieces by Donna J Engstrom.
Mary's intriguing photographs encourage us to view the world in new ways. She uses her camera lens to capture people, places, and things with an insight and sensitivity all her own. Her photographs reflect the power of her vision and she has chosen to display a blend of unaltered and digitally altered photos for this exhibit.
Donna is an award winning mixed media artist whose work has been published in books and magazines. Her work is in national and international collections. Donna’s work is a celebration of color and texture. Using her favorite media of paint and collage, Donna's work in this exhibit will be her abstract interpretation of Mary's photographs.
Viewers will enjoy the range of Mary's photographs and Donna’s conceptual vision of them.
